Alumni Association Awards

Distinguished Alumnus Award

The recipient of this award must be an alumnus who received a degree from Valdosta State (or completed a minimum of three years of academic work at the institution) and has distinguished him/herself in such a way as to reflect honor on Valdosta State University. The qualifications of the recipient should be recognized at regional, state or national levels. The recipient must also be an alumnus who has continued to support the objectives and activities of the VSU Alumni Association since leaving the institution.

Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD) Award

The recipient of this award must be an alumnus/na who received a degree from Valdosta State University within the last 10 years, who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in his/her profession and significant service within the community.

Nominations

A recipient for each award is chosen from all nominations received by the Office of Alumni Relations. Each nomination should include detailed information about the achievements of the person being nominated, giving specific reasons why the nominee should be considered for the award. Final selection is made from the persons properly nominated. If, in the opinion of the selection committee, there is no suitable candidate for the award, no award will be made. Applications and nominations are accepted on an ongoing basis, however, those nominations received by June 1 of each year will take priority in the selection of that years recipient. The Alumni Association will invite the recipient to be present for Homecoming, and the presentation will be made at the annual meeting during Homecoming weekend.
